Via Vinci opens branch in Amsterdam

From this September onwards Via Vinci Academy will also offer its programmes in Amsterdam, at the facilities of Via Vinci partner OOG. The new branch can easily be reached by car via the A10 motorway, as well as by public transport. For our international partners it now becomes even more interesting to pay us a visit, either at our head office in Breda, or at any of our branches in Bergen op Zoom, Dordrecht, Zwolle and, from this September onwards, Amsterdam. All of these are beautiful historical towns. Because studying is for curious people!

Launch Via Vinci University Drechtsteden

On 17 December 2009, Via Vinci University ‘Drechtsteden’ has been officially launched. With the signing of the statutes at the notary, the new business activities have been initiated within the acquainted brand of ‘Via Vinci’. Via Vinci University Drechtsteden is a new independent venture with the aim to offer bachelor programmes and new programmes with a strong focus on management and entrepreneurship in the Rijnmond-Zuid region. In that respect, there will be no competition with the widely known company ‘International University for Creative Leadership and Entrepreneurship’ as both the products and the market are not the same. However, there will be a close cooperation between the two companies as they both make use of the same brand and both will purchase each other’s products.

Greater implementation strength through cooperation with IMAGO Groep

Since 2000 IMAGO Groep has been offering Post-Bachelor programmes, primarily focused on the educational sector. Early 2007 Via Vinci University took over these programmes. Over the past couple of years the two organisations grew apart and chances were missed. Via Vinci’s innovation strength was not used by IMAGO Groep and IMAGO Groep’s implementation expertise was not used by Via Vinci.

Graduation Days Via Vinci University

On June 25th and June 30th the Via Vinci University Graduation Days were held in the historical main hall of the “Markiezenhof” city palace in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. During the ceremony on June 25th 30 students received their post-bachelor “school leader primary education” diploma and 5 master students, dressed in graduation robes, received their Master’s Degree. On June 30th there was a special ceremony for all our students employed at RVKO. They all received their post-bachelor “school leader primary education” diploma. Thanks to the great weather on both days, the informal part of the ceremony took place in the attractive inner court of the palace.
On July 13th five more students graduated in Tilburg, the Netherlands. They all received their post-bachelor “school leader primary education” diplomas at the facilities of their employer, the OPMAAT foundation.
We are looking back upon three very successful graduation ceremonies and would like to wish our graduated all the best in their careers.

Train the Russian Trainer

Last month, we paid a visit to our Russian partner: Taganrog Technological Institute (TTI). TTI is part of the Southern Federal University (SFU), a cooperation between 21 universities in the Caucasus in South-Russia. Last year we signed our cooperation agreement. The purpose of our cooperation is to provide Russian TTI and SFU students in the so-called Magister programme our Master programme. We will start with the MBA in Business & Marketing, and the MBE and other MBA programmes will follow thereafter. The first group of students will start their MBA in Business & Marketing course in February 2009.

The execution of the Master modules will be done by Russian professors and tutors. Via Vince delivers the educational concept and didactics. Quality care is of utmost importance and therefore we have made agreements about quality measurement. This first step in this process exists of a train-the-trainer programme in October, which will take place in the Via Vinci head office in the Netherlands. A group of 12 Russian professors will be trained in educational concept, didactics, attitudes and working with students during a one-week training programme. In January 2009 another train-the-trainer programme will follow. This time the professors will be trained extensively in the content of the five modules for the first year of the MBA programme. Of course the reader will be kept informed about the progress!

Summercourse Martel 2008

‘Ferme Martel’ was the location where the doctorate candidates met each other for the first summer course. ‘Ferme Martel’ is a beautiful old farm in Petit Paris, near St Nazaire Le Désert in the French Department Drôme Provençale. The farm has been property of professor Herman Kuipers and his wife Alice for the past 20 years. It was a full, varied and mostly inspiring course programme. Lectures and discussions where alternated with presentations around the eight doctorate research subjects. Delicious lunches, drinks and diners where organised in restaurants in the surrounding villages. The programme offered sufficient time to work individually. In short, the summer course was a fantastic event, both professionally and personally.

Professor Kuipers, Via Vinci Research Director Hans Broekhuis en President Peter Peene acted as the leaders for the week. It was decided to call the summer course the Martel Summer Course from now on, and to organise this event annually for all doctorate candidates. The possibilities for learning, exchanging experiences, discussing with professors and fellow-candidates and establishing new contacts appeared to be very useful and pleasant. Via Vinci has gotten the ‘Martel’ feeling: self-willed scientific practice, based on well-considered experiences that have been proven theoretically and methodologically. The ‘Martel’ feeling further stands for style and quality, humour and adventure, and discipline and results. Martel: remember this name!
