In 2000, Dr. Oedit Doebé has been appointed professor in business administration at the international Newport University in Antwerp, Belgium. He acts as a guest lecturer at (inter)national congresses and symposia and has done various publications. Besides his activities in higher education (Newport University and The Hague University), he is a senior consultant in general management.

Organisation-wise, the chair will be positioned in the Via Vinci Research Laboratory, the research department directed by Dr. Hans Broekhuis. Dr Oedit Doebé will be working closely with Prof. Dr. Herman Kuipers, who supervises and tutors promotion candidates until the moment they have been assigned to a promoter and registered at the promotion register. The latter enables promotion candidates to acquire a Doctorate Degree fully recognised by Dutch law. Candidates who conduct their study and their research under the auspices of the new chair will acquire a Doctorate Degree and/or one of the international titles PhD and DBA.

The purpose of this chair is to contribute to the further development of the Suriname society and economy, by multiplying and transferring scientific knowledge in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. In specific, the following goals are set:

  1. attracting and tutoring doctorate candidates during their scientific research around these topics;
  2. to embed the new scientifically founded insights in educational Bachelor and Master programmes and/or in workshops and seminars;
  3. to stimulate organisational development courses within companies, governments and other organisations, partly on the basis of the newly acquired insights.
